More rap, more “Karma”… Bigflo and Oli set the Zénith in Toulouse on fire for the first of their five home dates

the essential
The first of five Zéniths by Toulouse rappers Bigflo and Oli was held this evening. For the occasion, the public and fans responded in large numbers.

They set the scene on fire. This Friday, April 17 evening, the two most emblematic brothers from Toulouse on the music scene, Bigflo and Oli, unleashed their fans. The latter covered the titles of their last album at the top of their lungs for the first of the five planned Zéniths.

Patience is required

Once through the doors of the concert hall, a few minutes before the show, impatience grows. Between giant cheers, encouragement from the staff and chants of “He who doesn’t jump isn’t Toulouse”, the room heats up with improvised entertainers. “We expect to have fun and enjoy it. We’re not big fans, but we saw them at the Stadium two years ago: it was the best concert of our lives,” say Mathilde and Malorie.

A concert full of surprises

9 p.m. The concert starts with Family Business. A video projected on a white veil retraces the lives of the two brothers, while they perform their new title. Then, in a cloud of reddish smoke, they appear to the cries and applause of the public.

Very quickly, they took possession of the stage, performing songs in front of an almost full Zénith, made up of spectators of all ages.

Highlight of the evening: the presentation of Oli’s gold record to his brother, only three weeks after the release of the album. And another surprise, the arrival on stage of Youssoupha, already present during the duo’s very first Zénith, ten years ago.

A unique scenography

For the Karma Tour, the scenography marks a real turning point. The universe is darker, more rap, like their latest project. The scene is surprising: a ground covered with grass, a car crushed under a concrete block marked “Karma”… and even a flocked plane of the same name flying over the pit.

A setting that amuses as much as it impresses, even on stage. Oli does not fail to tease his brother: “It feels like Bigflo’s dream.”

Classics that are still essential

If the tour accompanies the release of their new album, a large part of the public is especially waiting for the old songs. “We are here for the old music, I hope they will do it,” confides Mathilde. Same expectation for Jérémy: “We listened to the new album, but it is more rap, therefore more difficult to sing”.

Very quickly, the fans were satisfied. When the first notes of Moon sound, the room lights up with the flashes of the phones. The piece, which has become essential, carries the audience away with the timeless moon which flies over the pit. Then comes Tomorrow. “We’re going to transform the Zénith into the Rose Festival this evening!” says Oli. The crowd jumps and sings in unison. Without forgetting the now legendary “Oh Toulouse”, performed in a room bathed in pink light.

No doubt: the duo’s classics will, once again, have thrilled the public as much – if not more – than the new titles.
