MP investigates house in Montenegro on suspicion of tax fraud

Luís Montenegro’s house in Espinho is the highlight of the Express this Friday, February 13th. The Attorney General’s Office confirmed to Expresso “the existence of an investigation being carried out at the Porto Regional DIAP”. The Prime Minister did not respond in time for the publication to close.

The first criminal investigation into the house in Montenegro was archived in December 2024 and was aimed at suspicions that the PSD leader had also obtained tax benefits unduly, due to the fact that the work was classified as urban rehabilitation, which gave him the right to discounts on VAT and IMI. After a year of investigation, the Porto Regional DIAP concluded that the benefits had been granted legitimately.
