This Palm Sunday, Pope Leo XIV issued a warning to “those who wage war”, in the context of a conflict that continues in the Middle East.
“This is our God: Jesus, King of peace. A God who rejects war, whom no one can use to justify confrontation, who does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war,” warned Pope Leo XIV.

“We are closer than ever, through prayer, to the Christians of the Middle East, who suffer the consequences of an atrocious conflict and who, in many cases, cannot fully live the rites of these holy days,” the Pope continued after the Angelus prayer.
He assured that “Even as the Church contemplates the mystery of the Passion of the Lord, we cannot forget those who, today, concretely participate in his suffering (…) Let us raise our prayer to the Prince of Peace, so that he may support the peoples wounded by war and open concrete paths of reconciliation and peace,” the Supreme Pontiff continued.

Furthermore, on Sunday, March 22, during his mass at the Vatican headquarters, the pope had noted that he continued to “observe with dismay the situation in the Middle East, as well as in other regions of the world torn by war and violence.”
“We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many people, innocent victims of these conflicts. What hurts them hurts all of humanity. The death and pain caused by these wars are a scandal for the entire human family and a cry before God,” added Pope Leo XIV.
