The Portuguese under-21 football team beat Azerbaijan 4-0 this Friday, March 27, in a game valid for Group B of the qualifiers for the 2027 European Championship.
In Baku, Gonçalo Moreira, Tiago Parente, Youssef Chermiti and João Simões scored the goals that guaranteed the fifth victory for the team that remains isolated in first place in the group, with 16 points, six more than the Czech Republic who today face Scotland, Portugal’s opponents, next Tuesday, March 31st.
The nine winners of each group and the best runner-up (not counting the results with sixth place) qualify for the final phase, to be played in Serbia and Albania, in 2027, while the remaining runners-up go to a play-off.
