A German national arrested in Russia is accused by authorities of transporting a homemade bomb intended for a suspected attack.

A German woman was arrested in southern Russia after an improvised explosive device, intended to be used in a “planned attack” by Ukraine, was found in her backpack, Russian security services announced on Monday.

“She was supposed to die on the spot,” according to the FSB

This German woman, “born in 1969” and whose identity has not been revealed, was involved in the preparation of this “attack” by a person from a Central Asian country, who was acting on orders from Ukraine, according to the FSB cited by state press agencies.

According to Russian security services, this homemade explosive device was to be detonated near a security forces site in the city of Pyatigorsk, in the Caucasus.

The FSB specified that a national of one of the Central Asian republics, “born in 1997”, had been identified. He is accused of being the one who was to remotely trigger the explosive device, “while the woman was to die on the spot”.
