The Minister of Labor stated this Thursday, April 16, that the Government and social partners are “in a position to close” the negotiation process on changes to the labor law and will meet on Friday with UGT and the four confederations for “small adjustments”.
Upon leaving the Social Concertation meeting, the Minister of Labor indicated that the meeting served to “share with all social partners the latest version” of the proposed revision of labor legislation, in an allusion to the fact that the CGTP only has the initial version of the draft, presented on July 24, 2025.
According to the official, this latest version includes “all matters that were pre-consensualized” in the technical meetings that have taken place between the Government, UGT and the four business confederations and considered that the “conditions” to “close this negotiation process” are met.
Palma Ramalho also confirmed the indication that had been given by the leaders of the business confederations that he will meet on Friday with UGT and ‘bosses’ for “small adjustments”.
