José Mourinho will be able to sit on the bench in this Saturday’s game, 6pm, with V. Guimarães, at Estádio da Luz, for the 27th round of the I League, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD) accepted the precautionary measure filed by Benfica to suspend the 11-day punishment with which the coach was punished.
At issue was the fact that the referee’s report from the derby with FC Porto indicated that the Reds’ coach kicked a ball against the Dragons’ bench, a gesture that earned him expulsion. Benfica countered these arguments, claiming that the ball was sent into the stands, presenting video footage of the situation.
The appeal was rejected by the Full Disciplinary Council, following a precautionary measure for the TAD which now upheld Benfica’s allegations, suspending the punishment, which will enable Mourinho to guide the team against V. Guimarães, after having missed the game with Arouca.
