At the end of four days in police custody, relatives of the historic Izards clan, including Sabri, the brother of the “Boss”, were indicted this Friday by the investigating judge for a series of extortion, preparation of crime and money laundering. All of them will spend the next few months, and perhaps years, in detention.
The judicial police continue to play their cards in their fight against the “historic” clan of Izards, north of Toulouse. After bringing down “the Boss”, sentenced two weeks ago to 27 years of criminal imprisonment (Mohamed Zerrouki appealed and still maintains his innocence), it is his brother Sabri, 36, who has just been indicted.

Long involved in trafficking, caught with 4 kg of cocaine in 2016, the discreet men of the BRI had been watching him like milk on fire for many months. “And it was rather hectic,” slips a source close to the matter. From bad attacks to extortion, from trafficking to shootings, his name came to the forefront with each incident.
Very violent blows of force
In this case opened by a Toulouse investigating judge for “criminal conspiracy to prepare a crime and aggravated money laundering”, we suspect this man and a certain number of his friends of multiple acts of force, more or less violent. In Toulouse but not only. They would also have done a lot in the Tarn. “In Albi, it was even very hot for him,” warns an observer.

And the investigators of the organized and specialized crime division of Toulouse, from the Ofast branch to the Crime, including the financial, the brigade for the repression of banditry and therefore the BRI, the efforts “have been united”, smiles a manager. In the tradition of bad boys, the suspects were not very talkative with the police. And no more in front of the judge.
He admits to two extortions
On the other hand, unusually, Sabri admitted his involvement in two extortions. In his defense, a microphone carefully installed in a garage in the north of Toulouse would have allowed the recording of very boring conversations. “Counting 27,000 euros that we have just stolen is indeed a bit embarrassing,” admits an insider. Especially when the police are listening.

This garage, managed by two friends with particularly eloquent reputations and legal records, seemed to serve as a hub for the team. The managers are surprised: yes, they rented to city customers “but how could they know what the cars were going to be used for?”, wonders their faithful lawyer Mr. Alexandre Parra-Bruguière. The argument should make PJ veterans smile. The two managers were taken into custody.

Like the brother of the “Boss”, defended by Me Sarah Nabet-Claverie, also alongside another member of the clan, who narrowly escaped death in March 2019 in front of the Izards pharmacy. A shootout. “The start of the clan war”, alerted the director of investigation of the PJ during the last trial. In total, nine people were indicted and eight placed under arrest warrant despite the arguments also put forward by Messrs Morgane Dupoux, Jacques Derieux and Merouane Khennouche.
“In Les Izards, and elsewhere, things should become calmer,” confides, and hopes, a police official.
