A man is suspected of employing undeclared people who could be in an irregular situation in several of his businesses. The targeted hair salons and snack bar are located in Alès, Anduze, Saint-Ambroix and La Grand-Combe.
For the gendarmes of the Saint-Ambroix brigade community, the arrest of an individual in an irregular situation, who works in a business, constitutes the starting point of a large-scale investigation. The employer then arouses the interest of the police who carry out various cross-checks and examine its financial environment.
Investigators suspect the owner of several hair salons and a snack bar of employing undeclared people who could be in an irregular situation. Under the authority of the Alès public prosecutor’s office, investigations are continuing. It appears that the company manager owns two hairdressing salons in Alès, and others in Anduze, La Grand-Combe and Saint-Ambroix. In addition, the man would also be the owner of a snack bar in Alès.
After several weeks of investigation, the gendarmes launched a vast control operation in the various municipalities which house the businesses. On Wednesday April 15, a large police force was deployed in Alès and the surrounding communities. In a coordinated manner, the military invaded the businesses.
An upcoming hearing before the Alès criminal court
The business manager and his partner were arrested and taken into police custody. Another member of the family is heard in open hearing. All are suspected of benefiting from funds without justifying their participation in the companies. During the searches, nearly €20,000 in cash was seized by investigators.
From a judicial source, it is assured that during the operation in the businesses, “Undeclared employees and people in an irregular situation were checked in all hairdressing salons as well as foreigners. Only the snack bar did not employ foreigners.”
Through the voice of the deputy public prosecutor, Quentin Larroque, the Alès public prosecutor’s office confirms the list of proceedings initiated against the main suspects: “concealed work by concealment of employees, by concealment of activities, employment of illegal foreigners, abuse of corporate assets, breach of trust.” For the third member of the family, the proceedings concern the “concealment of misuse of corporate assets and concealment of breach of trust.” The three accused are summoned on October 2.
