The first test exercise for São Paulo’s tsunami warning system was carried out on the morning of Tuesday, March 24th.
In Terreiro do Paço, sirens rang, with sounds and voice messages, indicating that it was an evacuation test in case of emergency.
More than one hundred elements from the Civil Protection, Municipal Police, Public Security Police and National Maritime Authority were involved in the operation.
Carlos Moedas, president of Lisbon City Council, stated that he will propose carrying out these tests every two months, but the director of municipal Civil Protection confirmed only one more this year.
