Portuguese skier Vanina Guerillot ended her national participation in the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games, finishing in 45th position, slalom raceafter completing both heats with a combined time of 1.55.14 minutes. In the first descent, she was 52nd, with 53.48 seconds, and improved significantly in the second, where she recorded 1.01.66, moving up seven places in the table end. Her total time was 16.04 seconds behind the winner, the American Mikaela Shiffrin, who won the Olympic title with 1.39.10. Switzerland’s Camille Rastgarantiu won the silver medal and Sweden’s Anna Swenn Larsson won the bronze. Among the 95 registered athletes, only 53 managed to complete both heats.
The performance represents an evolution for Guerillot, in relation to the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022, an edition in which he failed to finish the slalom.
The Portuguese had already made a mark at these Games, reaching 41st place in the giant slalom, Portugal’s best female ranking of all time in the discipline. In that event, she finished with a time of 2.25.56, 12.06 seconds behind the winner, the Italian Federica Brignone, who added the gold to the title won in the super-giant, while the Swedish Sara Hector and the Norwegian Thea Louise Stjernesund shared the silver.
With the end of the women’s alpine skiing events, the Portuguese competitive presence at the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics also ends. The competition continues until Sunday, when the closing ceremony takes place at the Verona Arena, a spectacle that should celebrate Italian culture and creativity and mark the end of another Olympic edition, marked by strong international participation.
