Although the tragic rail accident in Adamuz affected the country for two months, the reversal of the current policy seems to have been buried in the aftermath of its consequences.
But the reality is this normality in rail transport remains stable.
Despite what one would hope, incidents in Spanish red have not stopped multiplying.
There have been alarming episodes in recent weeks. From the fire of the convoy in Tortosa to the derailment of the Rodalies train in Blanes due to the loss or shock of the search against the group in Cartagena.
Red doesn’t just recover offers signs of structural fatigue.
Dear friends, users had to live a chaotic day due to a problem with the optical fiber in the access to Madrid-Atocha, which paralyzed the high-speed circuit in the south and east. According to the People’s Party, the situation is “absolute chaos” and measures to deal with the damage to the Madrid-Málaga connection are imperative.
Due to operational instability, time rate (LTV) restrictions remain activated by Adif.
It stands to reason that in the midst of a series of serious accidents, the infrastructure manager will be extremely cautious.
But there are currently more than 1,000 active restrictions in all red, some of them at speeds below 30km/h. These technical issues that maintain constant feedback, van fireplace to convert to permanent from the inability to resolve background desperfects.
Moreover, the extent of these restrictions suggests that the deterioration of the infrastructure was much greater than the official authorities admitted.
And one should only complain that there tends to be an accident of Adam’s gravity to address systemic flaws that remain hidden or ignored. Red seems to have been operating at the limit of his physical endurance.
The situation only worsens with multiple control tasks being performed at the same time.
While these tasks are necessary, they are painfully slow. The partial paralysis of key runners for months demonstrates a lack of administrative and technical dexterity that citizens do not have to pay for.
In the face of political and civil criticism, the government claims that security is a non-negotiable “red line” and that it is working 24 hours a day to normalize traffic. The size is explained, induced, by the appearance of “oculto vicios”, such as the structural cracks detected in the walls of the time, which force a reconstruction in cement instead of using quick solutions.
However, this argument contrasts with the version of the professionals.
Machinists and railroad unions take months not only to file complaints to waive preventive maintenance. Sino also complains about the failure of the solution and blames the Ministerio de Transportes ya Adif de practicar “parking policy” that threatens the safety of workers and passengers.
The uncertainty of the red ya does not only involve the problem of timeliness or uncertainty: economic impacts make it impossible to predict. The rail chaos is a suffocating movement at a critical moment for the national economy.
According to information from Spain, the burden is such that Andalusia’s government is now asking the central government to cover the 3,300 million euros the region is estimated to lose in tourist revenue due to the rail system.
In a country whose economy depends so much on tourism, and whose Holy Week ports are lost to full rail connectivity, this collapse is unacceptable.
The reliability crisis of our rail system risks becoming chronic, if not approached as a state of emergency.
But the government is not acting so urgently to calm the situation. The movement of citizens and the health of our main industry can be counted on for up to two months.
