The Doubs firefighters were contacted this Sunday, April 19, 2026 at the end of the afternoon to rescue a man lost in the Loue valley. The victim, aged 75, got lost while out walking. It was located in the commune of Châteauvieux-les-Fossés, near the Raffenot waterfall, when it was at the foot of a steep slope, unable to climb back up under its own power. Faced with this perilous situation, emergency services decided to airlift the septuagenarian.
The Dragon 25 helicopter responded to the scene with the help of emergency and mountain rescue teams to take care of the hiker. The firefighters brought him to safety before leaving him there, in the care of his family. “The man, in good health, was not transported to hospital,” the gendarmes said.
