Children found naked, pushing a lawn mower, in the city center of Mont-de-Marsan: the mother will be judged in November

A mother will be tried next November before the Mont-de-Marsan criminal court for leaving her five children aged 4 to 15 years old alone at the family home. The facts led to the placement of minors and the opening of legal proceedings for “evasion of parental obligations”.

The children were found naked in the city center

According to Herethe events date back to April 7, 2026. That day, around 11 a.m., a passerby discovered in a street in downtown Mont-de-Marsan three children aged 4 and 6, alone and naked, pushing a lawn mower and accidentally hitting a car. Alerted, the police intervened quickly.

On site, the police noted that the children were victims of neglect. Continuing their checks, they discovered another 4-year-old child in the family home as well as a 15-year-old teenager, also without adult supervision, in accommodation described as unsanitary.

The children were placed

According to the first elements of the investigation, the mother left home to go to Spain to go shopping, leaving her children in the supposed care of a cousin. The latter would have left the scene in turn, leaving the siblings to their own devices. The children’s grandmother, informed, went to the scene and alerted the authorities.

The mother was taken into police custody the day after the incident before being released under judicial summons. She will have to answer before the Mont-de-Marsan criminal court for serious breaches of her parental obligations. A temporary placement order was made for the entire siblings, made up of five children aged 4 to 15 years old.
