Côte-d’Or. The minister’s TGV hits a cow, his trip to Dijon canceled

The Minister of Cities and Housing, Vincent Jeanbrun, had to cancel his visit to Dijon (Côte-d’Or) on Friday, after a collision between his TGV and a cow, revealed The Public Good.

The minister’s train, a Swiss TGV Lyria linking Paris to Zurich, left at 12:22 p.m. and was due to arrive at 1:57 p.m. in Dijon. But “he hit a cow towards Darcey”, in the heart of the Côte d’Or countryside, said SNCF Voyageurs.

Three hours late, trip canceled

“The equipment was slightly damaged and the train was able to leave after the usual checks towards Blaisy-Bas”, not far from there, where the TGV arrived around 3:30 p.m. All the passengers were to be transferred there in the afternoon to another train to return to Dijon.

The delay being too long – around three hours – the minister preferred to postpone his trip, his press secretary said.

“This kind of accident happens quite often”

“This kind of accident with cows happens quite often,” the president of the Dijon Metropolis, former minister François Rebsamen, responded calmly when Vincent Jeanbrun told him on the phone that he was canceling his visit.

“It happened to me no later than last week,” added François Rebsamen, quoted by Vincent Jeanbrun’s press secretary.

The Minister of Cities and Housing was to visit the first large-scale “positive energy district” in France in Dijon, that is to say producing more energy than it consumes.
As for the cow, “agents are looking for it to evacuate it,” said SNCF Réseau, track manager.
