A major figure in cinema is leaving. Actress Nathalie Baye died at the age of 77, her family announced this Saturday, April 18. She died Friday evening at her home in Paris from Lewy body disease, a neurodegenerative disease. Nathalie Baye was born in 1948 in Mainneville in Eure. It was revealed by the film “American Night” by François Truffaut in 1973.
Nathalie Baye has shot a large number of successful films: “Sauve qui peut (la vie)”, “The return of Martin Guerre”, “La Balance”, “La Baule-les-Pins”, “Michou d’Auber”, “Venus Beauté (Institut)”, “Le Prix à payer”, “Le Petit lieutenant”. Many directors had called on his talent: François Truffaut, Xavier Dolan, Bertrand Blier, Claude Chabrol or Tonie Marshall for example.
Internationally, Nathalie Baye starred in Steven Spielberg’s “Catch Me If You Can” in which she played Leonardo DiCaprio’s mother.
Four Caesars in his career
During her career, she won four Césars, including the César for best actress for “La Libra” in 1983 and “Le Petit Lieutenant” in 2006. A discreet actress, she knew how to break her demure image to give free rein to her fantasy. She was as popular with the general public as with movie buffs.
