Gil Vicente loses at home to Vitória de Guimarães and complicates the fight for fifth place and European places

Gil Vicente was defeated this Saturday (18) at home by Vitória de Guimarães, 1-0, in the 30th round of the I Portuguese Football League, and could be further away from fifth place, with possible access to European competitions.

In Barcelos, Brazilian Gustavo Silva scored the Guimarães’ goal in the 66th minute, in the week in which the club’s president, António Miguel Cardoso, announced his resignation from his position.

With the result, Gil Vicente remains in sixth, with 46 points, one behind Famalicão, who plays Sporting de Braga on Sunday and will try to reinforce their fifth position, which could allow access to European competitions next season.

Vitória de Guimarães, which has two wins and a draw in the last three games, is seventh, with 39 points, seven behind Gil Vicente.
