Iranian mediator and minister welcome “progress” in US-Iran talks

The mediator of the indirect negotiations between the United States and Iran, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Badr Albusaidi, considered that the almost six-hour round, at the residence of the Arab country’s ambassador in Geneva, was productive, and that new negotiations should take place next week, already at the technical level. He stated that the delegations had “ended the day after significant progress” and that they would pause for consultations in their respective capitals before meeting again.

Albusaidi added that the diplomatic channel remains active despite the high-risk environment surrounding the negotiations. His Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, was also satisfied with the negotiations. “Overall, during these long and very intense hours, good progress was made, and we entered into a serious review of the elements of a deal, both in the nuclear area and on sanctions.”said about the meetings that took place in the morning and afternoon and which included the technical participation of the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi.
