His brand, however, is not limited to music. It extends to architecture, illustration, cartoons, photoanimation, costumes and sets for theater, opera and ballet, design and graphic arts.
In 2014, José Luís Tinoco received the Career Consecration Award from the Portuguese Society of Authors, and Teatro S. Luiz, in Lisbon, opened the season with the tribute show “Os lados do mar – José Luís Tinoco”, directed by Laurent Filipe, with the participation of musicians such as Carlos do Carmo, Carminho, Camané, André Sarbib and Pedro Jóia.
In 2021, RTP premiered the documentary “Life and work of José Luís Tinoco”, by Laurent Filipe, available on the RTP Play platform, which covers the different expressions of his work.
“I avoid what’s easy”, José Luís Tinoco always said. “I don’t give in just because it’s pretty”, he assured. In music, in painting, in architecture, in all of life.
