Lure. A fake buyer flees with a luxury watch for sale on the internet

It’s an online scam that has had very real repercussions in real life. This Saturday, April 18, a resident of Lure was the victim of a spectacularly violent theft, committed in broad daylight in the city center.

For several years, the fifty-year-old has been trying to sell an old family watch via the Leboncoin website. The object is precious: it is a yellow gold pocket watch from the Swiss house Golay Leresche et Fils, dating from the end of the 19th century. Still in working condition, it is listed at €4,500 on the ad still online this Sunday.

Sprayed with tear gas

Early Saturday afternoon, the seller had a meeting with a supposed buyer. The meeting point was set at the 1st Dragoon Regiment roundabout, in front of the Post Office. But the interview did not go as planned: as soon as the fake customer had the watch in his hand, he ran off to steal it. In passing, he sprayed the victim with tear gas to neutralize him, in order to prevent him from chasing him. The owner of the watch shouted to alert passers-by, in vain: the thief managed to disappear with the pocket watch.

The author sought

The Haut-Saônois relieved of his property filed a complaint with the gendarmerie. An investigation has been opened: investigations are underway to try to find the trace of the author of the theft.
