Due to a lack of declaration from the prefecture, a gala with several MMA fights was banned on Saturday in Portet-sur-Garonne and Toulouse. The police intervention put an end to this undeclared event which could have legal consequences.
The ring was set up, spectators were present (around 300 people) and two fighters had already faced each other. But this MMA fight (Mixed Martial Arts in English or mixed martial arts) was the only one in an event announced this Saturday in Toulouse. “Initially, the meeting was to be presented in Portet-sur-Garonne, but the gendarmes put in place a system which made the event impossible. The organizers then turned to Toulouse,” explains a witness.
Grouped under the name “Ultime Combat”, these directors had planned several oppositions, in different categories. They even held a presentation Friday night where future wrestlers were displayed. Toulouse fighters were registered in the program.
No declaration to the prefecture
The only difficulty was that the organizers failed to notify the prefecture. “In the absence of a declaration, it is not possible to verify compliance, by the organizer, with the technical and safety rules which make it possible to guarantee the protection, health and dignity of the participants. It was also not possible to verify that the reception and management of the public could take place in optimal conditions,” explains the Haute-Garonne prefecture. Which led to the ban and the intervention of the police. “Calmly and without incident”, specifies the police. The presence of CRS calmed tempers and led to the departure of spectators who had paid between 30 and 50 euros for their ticket.

The prefecture announced its desire to file a complaint; the owner of the venue “squatted” for the event, north of Toulouse, also. The public prosecutor’s office can also launch an investigation. In any case this Sunday, no complaint has yet been filed.
