Repsol Profits Grow 8.1% in 2025 Despite Challenges in the Energy Sector

The Spanish energy company Repsol, present in Portugal, had profits of 1,899 million euros last year, 8.1% more than in 2024, the company announced this Thursday, 19th.

The “adjusted net result, which specifically measures the ordinary management of the business”, amounted to 2,568 million euros in 2025, 15.1% less compared to 2024.

In a statement, Repsol attributed these results to the “complex” and “challenging context” of 2025, “marked by high volatility in the energy markets”, which dropped the average price of a barrel of Brent to 69.1 dollars, 15.5% less than in the previous year, “increasing geopolitical uncertainty” and “the impact of the blackout” in the Iberian Peninsula on April 28, 2025.

In 2025, the company completed its exit from Colombia and Indonesia, “to concentrate operations in geographies with greater competitive advantages, such as the United States”, and average daily production rose to 548,000 barrels of oil per day, “in line with what was foreseen in the strategic plan”.

This year, Repsol expects to reach a production of between 560,000 and 570,000 barrels per day, “without taking into account the possible increase in production in Venezuela”.

The company recalls that on Friday the US Government – which captured former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in January – issued new licenses that allow “to resume oil and gas operations” in Venezuela.

Regarding the future, Repsol will present new estimates on March 10 for the period 2026-2028, “which will allow the company to adapt to the evolution of the macroeconomic, regulatory and business context of the energy sector”, according to the statement released today.
