A car hit the back of a garbage collection truck, near Perpignan, this Saturday April 18, 2026. A garbage collector, positioned at the back of the truck, was very seriously injured.
It was around 6:30 a.m. this Saturday April 18, 2026, in Rivesaltes, near Perpignan, when the accident occurred, reports The Independent. A car collides with the back of a dump truck collecting household waste.
An agent, at the “ripper” station, responsible for collecting the trash and then loading it onto the dump truck, was on the step of the vehicle at the time of the collision.
State of absolute emergency
Aged 57, the man was very seriously injured in the collision, according to our colleagues. The worker was taken to the Perpignan hospital center, in a state of absolute emergency.
Ongoing investigation
The driver of the car, aged 20, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. Two other passengers are safe.
The second agent responsible for collecting waste was unhurt. Firefighters, emergency services and extrication teams intervened on site. An investigation is now underway.
