A murder in Castres shakes the city. A 40-year-old man was beaten to death in the street before the attackers fled on a scooter. The investigation into intentional homicide continues. Here’s what we know about the drama.
The investigation is still ongoing and very active to identify the two perpetrators of the murder of a 40-year-old man on the night of Friday to Saturday in the middle of the street in Castres. For the moment, no arrests have taken place.
During the night of Friday April 17 to Saturday April 18, around 12:40 a.m., the police were alerted by residents of rue de Lardaillé in Castres of a brawl on the public highway during which two individuals hit a man on the ground several times, including several times on the head. Witnesses, who attempted to provide first aid to the victim who was in cardio-respiratory arrest and bleeding, including a significant wound to the head, saw the alleged perpetrators flee on scooters.
Despite the intervention of these residents relayed by the firefighters, the death of the victim was recorded.

Staff from the Castres police station quickly went to the site and carried out all the findings. A crack pipe was notably found on site, suggesting a settling of scores over drugs. The victim, a Castrese unknown in the neighborhood, also had in his hand a folding knife, Opinel type, whose blade was closed. But the motive for this crime remains unclear for the moment. An investigation, entrusted to the PJ and the Castres police station, was opened by the public prosecutor’s office into the charge of intentional homicide.
“An autopsy has been ordered,” indicates the public prosecutor of Castres, Élodie Buguel. CCTV footage from the city, showing the two alleged perpetrators on their scooters, should help investigators find the perpetrators of this sordid crime.
