Frenchman Sébastien Ogier is the main highlight among the 11 drivers in the Rally1 category registered in the Rally de Portugal2026, which is scheduled to take place between May 7th and 10th, as revealed by the organization of the event. The Toyota driver returns to a competition where he has won seven victories, including the 2025 edition, reinforcing his status as one of the biggest references in the recent history of the World Rally Championship.
Ogier, nine-time world champion, continues to complete only a partial program in the WRC, but maintains a presence in races considered strategic for Toyota Gazoo Racing. The Japanese team presents five Rally1 cars in the Portuguese race, with the Frenchman accompanied by Takamoto Katsuta, current leader of the 2026 championship, Elfyn Evans, Oliver Solberg and Sami Pajari.
The Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team lines up with Thierry Neuville, Adrien Fourmaux and Dani Sordo, while the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team lines up with Jon Armstrong, Josh McErlean and Mārtiņš Sesks.
Among those registered, there is also a strong national representation, with 13 Portuguese teams at the start. Among the confirmed names are Armindo Araújo, Ricardo Teodósio, José Pedro Fontes, Gonçalo Henriques and Pedro Almeidaamong other drivers who will compete in the different categories of the race.
The 2026 edition will once again have an operational base in Matosinhos and includes emblematic stages in the North and Center of the country, with emphasis on historic sections such as Fafe, Amarante, Arganil and Lousã, maintaining the Rally of Portugal as one of the most emblematic and popular stages of the world rally calendar.
