A 16-year-old boy was killed during an attack in the northern Ukrainian city of Chernihiv, local administration head Dmytro Bryjynsky said on Sunday. “Four people were also injured: three women and a man,” the official wrote on Telegram, reporting the strikes which damaged 7 houses, as well as two public buildings. The city’s energy infrastructure has been hit hard by several rounds of attacks this week, leaving thousands of residents without power, according to local authorities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced on Sunday the extension announced Friday of the suspension of American sanctions on Russian oil. The US Department of the Treasury temporarily extended on Friday, until May 16, the suspension of the majority of sanctions targeting the Russian oil industry in the context of the energy crisis caused by the war in the Middle East triggered by the Israeli-American strikes against Iran on February 28.

They have been suspended and an investigation is underway,” Interior Minister Igor Klymenko said in a statement on Telegram on Sunday. The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office announced the opening of a criminal investigation into their conduct.
