Members of the Les Républicains party have just nominated their candidate for the 2027 presidential election. With 73.8% of the votes, it is their president, Bruno Retailleau, who has just been chosen.
The members of the Les Républicains (LR) party have decided, Bruno Retailleau will represent them in the next presidential election, in 2027.
Members of the Republicans chose on Sunday to nominate the party boss, Bruno Retailleau, as their candidate for the 2027 presidential election by 73.8% of the votes during a consultation, ruling out the organization of an internal primary in June, LR indicated in a press release.
The World recalls that they had, this weekend, the choice between three scenarios: a closed primary, reserved for LR members, in June, a semi-open primary on the same date, or immediately designate Bruno Retailleau as the party’s candidate for the 2027 presidential election. It is this last option which was popular, with 73,8 % voices, this Sunday, April 19. The president of the party will therefore be the LR presidential candidate.

The proposal for a closed primary, reserved exclusively for LR members, only received 12.2%, while the one which planned to open it to supporters did barely better (14%), said the party, stressing that participation reached 60.01%, or nearly 46,000 voters out of the approximately 76,000 members called to the polls.
On The candidate sees in this result “a new decisive step in the reconstruction and mobilization of the French right”.

“I will be the candidate of the gathering of French people to be, in a year, the president of the recovery of France,” he concluded.
