The Auxiliary Health Technicians (TAS) of the Local Health Unit (ULS) of Santa Maria will be on strike on March 19, in protest against the lack of performance evaluation, the workers decided this Wednesday, February 18, in a plenary session.
Speaking to Lusa after the plenary held this Wednesday morning, Ana Amaral, from the Union of Workers in Public and Social Functions of the South and Autonomous Regions, explained that the strike will take place between 08:00 and 24:00 on March 19.
He said that Santa Maria’s position is that, “as they have moved on to a new career, the assessment does not apply” and considered that the ULS position shows a “lack of will” to resolve the situation, as the matter has been resolved in other health units.
“This situation has been resolved in other hospitals, namely IPO Lisbon, ULS Lisboa Oeste and ULS Amadora/Sintra”says the union in the note in which it announced the plenary, remembering that, in this case, the situation covers 1,350 workers.
These workers “They are those who are on the front line of caring for patients every day”says the union, highlighting that TAS feel “undervalued in their roles and in their salary”, which is close to the national minimum wage.
According to the union, the assessment process for the 2023/2024 biennium is at stake, as well as the assessment for 2025 and the definition of objectives for 2026.
“Since the career diploma does not mention assessment, the general law applies, which means that the SIADAP applies [sistema de avaliação da função pública]. We don’t agree with him, but that’s what applies.”added Ana Amaral.
Lusa tried to obtain a position from the Board of Directors of ULS de Santa Maria on this matter, but so far has not received a response.
