Undefeated after seven months, Cyprien leaves the game with 861,337 euros in winnings

He had been undefeated for seven months. But Cyprien Fohr, 22, chose to leave “Les 12 coups de midi” on TF1 on Sunday to return to his studies in music, after having “teasing destiny”, he declared. “I always knew what I wanted to do: classical music, becoming a conductor”, so leaving the game is “the solution most faithful to my principles”, he explains, after this surprise announcement ten days ago.

Under the eyes of his mother, he was very moved by the tributes prepared for this occasion, in particular that of the “voice-over” of the show.

“Take time to think”

At the end of his 212th show on Sunday, he pocketed 861,337 euros in winnings, in money and gifts. What will the young man do with it? “I’m going to take the time to think,” said this master’s student in musicology at the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris wisely. He will only be able to take the vacation that was offered to him after a concert scheduled for July 3 with the L’Isle Joyeuse ensemble.

This is the second time since its launch in 2010 that a player has voluntarily left the program hosted by Jean-Luc Reichmann, where candidates must answer general knowledge questions. Cyprien assures that he has a light heart. “It’s a show that I watched when I was 7 or 8 years old. One evening, I said to myself that it would be fun to try my luck,” he relates. And “I was very lucky.”

“Controlling stage fright”

His participation was unexpected: “I made a replacement” because “a place had just become available and I was available the next day”. Then “I went from surprise to surprise”, recounts the man who claims to have played on set rather “as a dilettante”. A dilettante who reached third place in the ranking of players having participated in the greatest number of editions of “12 coups de midi”.

Emilien, who occupies the first step of the podium, was eliminated last July after 21 months, 647 participations and 2.5 million euros in winnings. He is the biggest winner in the history of TV games in France to date. Cyprien assures that his own practice as a musician has helped him not to stress too much: “It’s an ethic of concentration and mastering stage fright. » The twenty-year-old has more than one string to his bow. He writes poetry and hopes to write a novel.
