US proposes new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

The United States proposed a new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, to try to end more than four years of war between both nations, announced the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky.

If carried out, this would be the third round of trilateral talks, since the first two did not achieve any significant progress and the conflict, one of the worst conflicts in Europe, remains active.

Zelensky indicated through an audio sent to journalists that this meeting was scheduled for last week in the United Arab Emirates, but the US postponed it until next week.

“It’s an American proposal, but to be honest, we’ll see what happens in the Middle East,” Zelensky said, referring to the war unleashed between Israel and the United States against Iran.

Said conflict would force the talks to be held in Switzerland or Turkey, said the Ukrainian president, who also spoke with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who offered to host the talks.
