World leaders defend the Pope, after criticism from Trump

MEXICO CITY.- This Monday, world leaders have expressed their support for Pope Leo XIVafter the American president, Donald Trump I would cross it out “weak”by criticize the war with Iran.

Trump supporter calls him “antichrist”

Bishops of Italy and the US support Pope Leo XIV

The Italian and American bishops also expressed their support for Pope Leo XIV.

The Italian Episcopal Conference, which “reaffirmed its full communion with the Holy Father Leo XIV,” expressed in a statement that it “regrets” the “statements directed against him in recent hours by the president of the United States, Donald Trump.”

“The Pope is not a political interlocutor, but the Successor of Peter, called to serve the Gospel, truth and peace,” the statement added.

Trump’s criticism of Pope Leo XIV

Trump says there is nothing to apologize for

Donald Trump responded that he would not apologize because Pope Leo XIV “said things that are wrong.” “He was very against what I’m doing regarding Iran. And you can’t have a nuclear Iran.”

Trump assured that “Pope Leo would not be happy with the final result”; and added, “There would be hundreds of millions of people dead; and that is not going to happen.”

The American president reiterated that he believes that Pope Leo XIV “is very weak on the issue of crime and other things.”

He noted that Pope Leo XIV made public statements and that he was only responding to Pope Leo XIV.

“And you know, his brother is very MAGA, and he’s a great guy, Louis; and I said, ‘I like Louis more than the Pope,'” Trump said.
