Every year, the enthusiasm is the same in the first days of Watches and Wonders, the largest haute horlogerie fair in the world – in the last few, tiredness clouds the spirit a little – where the big houses present their new products and try to surprise an increasingly demanding public.
They unfold into stories, test limits and in addition to colors and materials – titanic and tungsten have been highlighted nowadays – they also present unprecedented partnerships and promise more research and development. They want to show “a friendly time, instead of a time that controls”, summed up one of those responsible for Hermés in the presentation of this year’s new products, as it continues to pass, constant and intrepid.
If there are brands that decided to revive the inspirations of past decades – like Tudor, Tag Heuer or Panerai – there are others that are absolutely focused on the future. Because they don’t have a past to draw inspiration from. This is the case of Bremont, an English brand, created in 2002. Despite having the American Bill Ackman as its majority partner, since 2023, Bremont continues to be based in Henley o Thames, where it develops and produces all the watches it puts on the market.
It stands out for its informality in a sector that particularly likes some presumption and also for the fact that it is not part of the ‘cream’ of watchmaking, located at the foot of the Swiss mountains. And this year he arrived in Geneva with something new that would end up fascinating most of those present: his Bremont Supernova Chronograph will be sent to the Moon, aboard the rover FLIP (FLEX Lunar Innovation Platform), which is part of Astrobotic’s Griffin One Mission. For the purpose of collecting data on lunar dust mitigation and surface operations, the information collected by the rover FLIP will serve as the basis for the design and the functionality of future lunar platforms. Bremont’s Supernova will be integrated into the chassis of the rover FLIP through a custom designed tile backsplash.
