Sporting draws 0-0 with Arsenal and misses historic qualification to the Champions League semi-finals

Sporting was this Wednesday, April 15, eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, then drawing 0-0 against English side Arsenal in the second leg in Londonfailing to reach the semi-finals for the first time.

After the 1-0 defeat in Lisbon in the first leg, with a goal from German Kai Havertz in the 90+1 minute, the ‘lions’ needed to win away to progress, but they did not go beyond a goalless draw in their visit to the leader of the English League.

Sporting thus ‘falls’ for the second time in the quarter-finals of the main European club competition, repeating what had already happened in the 1982/83 season, while the Arsenal advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Spanish side Atlético de Madrid, who eliminated FC Barcelona.
