Bayern Munich secured qualification for the Champions League semi-finals after beating Real Madrid 4-3, at the Allianz Arena, in an intense game decided only in the final minutes. The German team confirmed their qualification with an aggregate result of 6-4, after having already won 2-1 in the first leg in Madrid.
The match started in the worst way for the Bavarians. Right in the opening moments, Arda Güler took advantage of Manuel Neuer’s mistake when passing the ball to open the scoring for the Spaniards. The young Turkish international would score again in the first half, this time converting a direct free kick, reinforcing Madrid’s advantage at a stage in which Real seemed to be in control of the tie.
Bayern reacted and equalized through Aleksandar Pavlovic, after a defensive failure on the other hand, before Harry Kane restored equality again. Just before the break, Real Madrid took the lead again, with Kylian Mbappé finishing a move led by Vinícius Júnior, giving the visitors the advantage at rest.
In the second half, Bayern took greater offensive initiative with the support of their fans and increased the pressure on the Madrid goal. German persistence would end up paying off towards the end: Luis Díaz scored the equalizer in the 89th minute and, already in added time, Michael Olise completed the turnaround with the definitive 4-3causing an explosion of joy in the Allianz Arena.
In the final moments of the match, Arda Güler would still be sent off, after seeing a red card, in a frustrating outcome for the young attacking midfielder who had been one of the figures of the match.
With this triumph, Bayern Munich advances to the semi-finals of the competition, where they will face Paris Saint-Germain, who eliminated Liverpool in the other round. The matches are scheduled for April 28th (first leg) and May 6th (second leg), in a duel that promises to decide one of the finalists of the European competition.
