Beer and cider in football stadiums? Testing starts next weekend

The sale of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in football stadiums in Portugal. However, the League is working to change this situation and should start testing next weekend. In statements given to journalists, the president of the League of Clubs (LPFP), made it known that the consumption of “low alcohol drinks, between beer and cider“, he pointed out.

Something that, looking at the ten best leagues in the world, “they all have”, at the same time that, in Portugal, “the fans are proving that they deserve that trust”, he highlighted. That said, the tests should begin next weekend, in the game between CD Tondela and CD Nacional (date still unknown).

Reinaldo Teixeira clarified that the work in question was carried out by that institution in collaboration “with the security forces, PSP and GNR and with our security director”he pointed out.

The objective of enabling the sale of low-alcohol drinks in stadiums has been set and “we are very committed”, he adds. Furthermore, the person responsible carries out a safeguard. “She allows it [a venda, em espaços próprio para o efeito]as long as the stadium’s security regulations have this premise, (…) and the security force has the autonomy to close this space [de venda] at any time“, he stressed.
