Deliver a new version of the draft to the social partners. “We are far from an agreement”, says UGT

The changes to labor legislation were under discussion this Thursday, April 16, at another meeting of the Social Concertation, in which the Government delivered to the social partners “another version of what the draft project is”.

It is “a version in which on some points there is a consensus that resulted from the various bilateral meetings”, said Mário Mourão, general secretary of UGT, stating that the union structure will now appreciate this new proposal from the Executive of Luis Montenegro to the labor law.

“We are far from an agreement. Based on our rough analysis, we are still far from that agreement”, Mário Mourão admitted to journalists.

After the meeting with the Minister of Labor, he stated, however, that “UGT, once again, expressed its willingness to dialogue and negotiation”. “Not any dialogue or negotiation, but we remain open to building bridges, to see whether or not it is possible to make commitments. It now depends on the other partners, let’s wait. There was nothing more specific than the proposal that was given to us and which we are now going to evaluate”, he said.
