Everyone has their own interpretation of Marianne. Michèle Morgan, Catherine Deneuve and of course Lætitia Casta… Marianne has been represented by many icons of French culture. But the Postal Museum in Paris is thinking even bigger with the exhibition “All Marianne(s). Liberty – Equality – Fraternity”, scheduled from April 15 to July 13. The Republican icon will be reinvented through 92 faces of inspiring women: personalities, but also a final photo highlighting a grandmother, her daughter and her granddaughter, representing three generations of postal workers.
All photographed by the committed artist Sylvie Castioni, these personalities from varied backgrounds can be discovered along an immersive journey where they appear in turn in portrait, in movement, or via testimonies. “The 92 portraits brought together make up a gallery representative of French society in its diversity of age and body, but also by including women with unique backgrounds,” indicates the Postal Museum in a press release.
Claudia Tagbo, Anne Depétrini, Marie Colin, Énora Malagré, Mahaut Drama, Reem Kherici, Séverine Ferrer or Suzane… Here, in images, are the thousand and one faces of Marianne.
