Is the board starting to move?

There are signals that, when repeated, stop being noise and become a trend. The DN/Aximage barometer released last Friday, the second part of which we published this Monday, once again showed the essentials: the PS leads for the second consecutive month, with 30.6%, against 24.3% for AD and 23.6% for Chega, after the distribution of undecided voters. On the same day, the Intercampus survey for the Morning Mail and Now channel confirmed the same movement. This is not a statistical fluke; It is a pattern that is gaining consistency and cannot be ignored, despite the fact that there continues to be a situation of technical draw, taking into account the margins of error in the polls, in the order of 4%.

What seems to be shaping up is a recovery of the PS. It is not a political earthquake, but a small shock capable of moving the board. And it comes at a time when the Government is facing a complex international context, whose economic impact it is not yet possible to accurately assess, but which is already being felt due to the increase in the cost of living. The times ahead will not be easy and the minority Executive led by Luís Montenegro will have to execute its ambitious reform program against the clock, while managing the effects of an external crisis and facing growing opposition in Parliament, on the left and on the right.
