MB Way will allow international transfers in 13 European countries by the end of the year

SIBS, through MB WAY, Bancomat and EPI Company (EPI) established an agreement to create payment solutions involving 13 European countries.

At issue will be a system that uses the services of MB Waybut it will be cross-border. Therefore, will simultaneously make use of Bancomat technologyfrom Italy, alongside the EPI. The latter was created by a group of European banks in 2020. Four years later, it created the Challengea European payment system, equivalent to MB Way.

In a presentation to journalists held this Thursday, April 16, in Lisbon, those responsible for the three entities clarified that It should be possible to make transfers between people in 13 European countries by the end of the year. This will be done through the use of a QR Code, as is already common practice for Portuguese people who use MB Way.

This is the case of Portugal, Spain, Andorra, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.

The next goal is to expand the solution to the possibility of making purchases, both online and in person, in 2027. The technology to be put into practice will include the implementation of in-store payments using technology contactless (NFC).
