Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla himself has already highlighted the importance of the Portuguese pivot on different occasions, highlighting mainly energy, tactical discipline and defensive impact that he brings to the team every time he takes the field. Inside the locker room, colleagues like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have equally valued the Portuguese’s work, especially in the fight for rebounds and blocks that free up space for the team’s offensive game.
After the victory over the Dallas Mavericks Mazzulla was asked by a journalist about the pivot’s role on the team. Before responding directly, the coach reacted with humor and asked the reporter: “Are you also from Benfica?”in reference to the Portuguese player’s past at Clube da Luz.
In another observation on the subject, the coach added, in a relaxed tone, that Queta “he’s a good boy, but I think he’s a Benfica fan”a comment that generated smiles at the press conference and showed that the coach knows the Portuguese player’s trajectory well before arriving in the United States.
