Porcelain cockatoo becomes unusual symbol of Bayern Munich’s 35th Bundesliga title

An unusual protagonist stood out this Sunday (19) in the celebrations of the most recent Bundesliga title won by Bayern Munich: a porcelain cockatoo that ended up becoming a symbol of the Bavarian party.

The team secured its 35th German championship by beating Stuttgart 4-2 at the Allianz Arena, at a time when there are still four rounds to go until the end of the competition. However, it was the presence of that decorative bird that caught our attention during the lawn party.

The porcelain cockatoo was held up by the players as if it were the real trophy, being placed in front of the group during official photographs and also appearing on the commemorative t-shirts distributed to the team.

The history of this “mascot” goes back to last season, when Bayern players stole it from a Munich restaurant during the title celebrations. The owner of the establishment later decided to offer the piece to the club and since then the cockatoo has become an unofficial amulet for Bayern, gaining prominence in this new conquest of the German title.
