What is the US Navy guided missile destroyer Spruance that fired at the Iranian ship?


The US Navy ship Spruance, which shelled an Iranian cargo ship and captured it on the 19th, is an Arleigh Burke-class missile destroyer. According to U.S. Central Command, Spruance fired “several shots” from a 5-inch gun into the engine room of the Iranian-flagged cargo ship Tuska, rendering it inoperable. U.S. Marines then boarded Tusca and took control of it. According to Navy documents, the Spruance 5-inch gun Mk45 was designed for use against ships, aircraft, and ground targets.
