Women’s volleyball narrowly missed the 2012 CCC playoffs after finishing the season 13-16 (2-6).

The team won two of their final three games, beating Salem St. on Oct. 20, and defeating Wentworth on the road on Oct. 27, for the second time this season.

The Lions’ homecoming win against Salem State was a straight-set victory.

Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.Va) contributed a match-high 10 kills to the 34 kills ENC had on the day.

Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.) added two assists, three kills, and seven service aces in the match.

Their final victory of the season came against Wentworth, the #6 seed in the CCC playoffs.

Hannah Welsh (Derby, N.H.) recorded 35 assists in the Lions’ 3-1 victory over the Leopards, just one less than the entire Wentworth team.

Dana Day (Coarsegold, Calif.) had a match-high 14 kills.

Clinkscale provided another strong performance with 12 kills, two service aces, and two blocks, earning 19.5 points in the match.

Clinkscale earned an honorable mention on the All-CCC volleyball team. She led the Lions with 72 kills during conference play, and led the team with 55 total blocks during the 2012 season.

“It was a team effort. I couldn’t have done it without my amazing teammates, especially setter Birdina [Tuiava]; we had [an] amazing connection this year.”

She also praised the rest of her team.

“She couldn’t set me without awesome passes from the defense, so the only reason I did pretty well this season was because of them.”

Clinkscale is excited about the freshmen that will join the team next year and believes that being so close to the postseason this season will fuel the women next year.

The Lions can return all nine players for the 2013 season.
