Members of ENC’s cross-country teams take the annual plunge, an ENC tradition, at the Elms Blazers Invitational on Sept. 28.

The ENC women’s cross-country team placed 15th at the Elms Blazers Invitational in Chicopee, Mass. on Sept. 28. The men’s cross-country team was unable to compete due to an incomplete team and thus did not place at the meet.

The men raced against 18 other institutions while the girls raced against 22.

Freshman Jessica Donovan (East Taunton, Mass.) was ENC’s top female, finishing 46th overall. Sophomore Jill Russell (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) finished close behind in 58th position.

“The race went pretty well. Everyone really ran hard and some of us even ran personal best times,” Donovan said.

Freshman Gregory Whitney led the men’s team (Henniker, N.H.), finishing 57th overall.

“With only two races left in the season, we are all looking to finish strong, then continue on to the NCCA championship,” junior Taylor Corbin said.

Corbin also spoke about the strong bond that the team has this year. “We continue to encourage each other and grow as a team. This year we have grown closer as a team and became one unit.”

The cross-country team will be competing on Oct. 12 at the Westfield State Invitational. The women will start at 11 a.m. and the men at 12 p.m.
