The men’s soccer team earned its first conference win with a 3-1 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Oct. 23.

Sophomore Will Campbell (Anchorage, Alaska) knocked in the first goal of the game off of a throw-in by sophomore Jonathan Stiles (Duxbury, Mass.). The goal was Campbell’s first of the season.

Minutes later, Scott Hansen (Middletown Spring, VT) scored to give the team a 2-0 lead at the half.

In the second half, Hansen was tripped up in the penalty box and Jacob Mason (Southport, England) took the penalty kick and scored, giving the Lions a 3-0 lead.

After their win over Wentworth, the Lions suffered a 4-2 loss to Nichols in another conference game, but the defeat did not dampen their spirits.

“Certainly, the season has been challenging,” Coach Dan Visser said. “But we’ve [got] a great group of guys laying the foundation for great things to come. Without question, we are excited about the future of ENC men’s soccer.”

The men’s soccer team concluded their season with a 1-0 loss to fourth place Salve Regina on senior night. Salve scored in the 50th minute, the only goal of the game.

The Lions’ Jake Johnson (Mount Bethel, Pa.) saved eight shots on the game.

Ryan Piesco (Duxbury, Mass.) and Pacifique Jabiro (Portland, Maine) are the only graduating seniors.
