Women’s volleyball team lost 1-3 in a non-conference game at Salem State on Sept. 13.

This brings the team’s overall record to 1-10 for the season, although they have yet to play a conference match. The volleyball team’s solo victory of the year occurred during the Regis College Invitational where ENC defeated Becker College, 3-0.

In the Salem State match, Salem won the first set with a score of 25-18 and continued their lead into the second set with a score of 25-20.

The Lions took control during the third set, winning 25-22, bring the score to 1-2 for the match. But, the last set was won by Salem State in a close final set with a score of 26-24.

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, women’s volleyball lost their first home game of the season to Regis College in four sets.

Senior Kourtney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, W.V) contributed 12 kills, seven digs, and six aces despite the team loss, while sophomore Joanna Joseph (Brockton, Mass.) added six kills, five digs, plus a pair of aces on the night.

Also notable, sophomore Lauryl Berger (Laurel, Del.) recorded 22 assists and four digs in the match all together.

In the first set, while Regis finished on top, the Lions fought closely to defend home court, ending the set 27-25 for Regis.

The Lions brought their best to the second set, winning 25-23, tying up the game.

In the third set, however, the visiting team would regain the advantage 25-23, and ultimately won the final set 25-16.

Women’s volleyball plays next on Sept. 20 at 3 p.m. at Emerson College in a non-conference match.
