ENC’s new step team, I and I, premiered their first performance during the pep rally on Nov. 9.
I and I will perform during halftime at the Men and Women’s basketball games on a rotating schedule with the Spirit Team. The team was founded by Senior Michelee Cherry in hopes of keeping the crowds energized and entertained during halftime.
Cherry started the team, recruited the members, and created the name, which she aimed to represent the hope of building a sense of unity among the team.
“The idea is that I’m as close to you as I am to myself,” Cherry said.
While I and I is the newest step-team ENC has tried similar clubs before with varying success.
During the pep rally on Nov. 9 , students got a taste of what the step team would be offering during halftime. They performed along with the Spirit Team and other entertainment.
I and I received positive feedback from their first performance and continue practicing to keep the team heading in an upward direction.
“The step team is a good team that will help to get people hyped, excited, and involved. Anything that brings people together in some sense helps the community to be better,” alumni Mary Mitchum said.
