After topping Gordon College, the women’s basketball team looks to build off of this conference win going into the second semester. The Lions have been struggling in conference games since losing their first two games against Curry and Endicott.

The tough two-point win against Gordon on Dec. 8 showed that the Lions have what it takes to win tough games. It’s early on in the season, but if they want to make a deep playoff run this season, they need to string together some conference wins and show more consistency.

With a 5-4 record, they still have 15 conference games left in the season. There’s a lot of time for them to improve and be one of the top teams in the conference.

Senior Jordan Grays believes the team has some things they can build on going further into the season, believing in stressing the importance of winning.

“I’m a senior now, and we have a lot of new players. I take it upon myself as a senior to always stress how important conference games are.”

She also believes the road games are very important. “We are 0-2 on the road in conference,” she said.  “It’s still early in the season, so playoffs aren’t out of reach for us, we just need to win on the road against competitive teams.”

Winning on the road is important for any team that wants to compete at a high level.

Senior Jasmine Mata believes that they have everything it takes to compete for a championship. “We need to keep growing as a team. We have all the pieces to the puzzle, we just have to put them together.”

The Lions look to push forward and come together as a team so they can make a run at the conference championship.
