Outside Hitter Kortney Jenkins is a senior athlete who provides crucial strength to the ENC women’s volleyball team.
Jenkins is a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Pre-law and Social Justice, and being one of the captains for the volleyball team is just another feat she can add to her list. Jenkins has been involved in volleyball since fourth grade, starting in a recreational program in her hometown of Bunker Hill, West Virginia. Now in college, she is one of the dominant forces on the team.
As the only senior and a captain, she strives to teach the predominantly young team how to adjust from a high school level to a collegiate level of play.
“This transition can sometimes be tough, and through hard work, I know that these players will be able to rise up to the challenge,” Jenkins commented.
Jenkins greatest memory about volleyball is winning the West Virginia AAA state tournament twice while in high school. She remarks that volleyball has always been a huge part of her life, and that is something “that cannot be replaced or forgotten.”
While she may be best known as a volleyball player around campus, Jenkins also enjoys playing the piano.
As a senior, volleyball player, and leader of her team she expresses that her faith and God have greatly impacted her life and college career.
“I have met amazing people in previous years on the team that have really shown me how to express God through the sport,” Jenkins said, “They have really shown me what it is like to play fully for him.”
Jenkins plans to attend graduate school immediately after graduating from ENC.
