“We spoke with Donovan, with the family, and the strategy that seems most feasible and coherent to us is the abbreviated procedure,” he stated.
Donovan is linked to trial for homicide
In the event that Donovan accepts responsibility for the crime of aggravated homicide, He would receive the minimum sentence, which is 20 years, in accordance with the provisions of the law, Mayen indicated. The defense also ruled out seeking another benefit such as the criterion of opportunity, since the 20-year-old does not have information to negotiate, he assured.
“He doesn’t know anything, that is, he has no information to negotiate, so in that sense it is useless for the Prosecutor’s Office to have a protected witness that is not going to provide you,” he stated.
Donovan will also face prosecution for bribery and health crimesafter having been arrested on October 15, in possession of a firearm and drugs. The control judge set a period of two months for the closure of the complementary investigations, time that Donovan will remain in prison.
